We are supporting a fantastic FE College who are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join them on a temporary full time basis, with the possibility of a permanent position. 

Job Title – Kitchen Assistant

Hours – Full Time (37 hours) 

Salary – £12-13 per hour PAYE 

Location – Greenwich-London

Requirements – We are looking to hire a dedicated and reliable kitchen assistant to assist the Catering Manager with ingredient preparation as well as perform all washing and cleaning duties required in the kitchen and service areas.  
Working hours as required by the manager during term time, this is normally 7.30am-3.00pm, Monday to Friday with a 30-minute refreshment break at a time that is convenient.
The role will also include serving customers, taking orders and preparing hot drinks using a commercial coffee machine. 
To be successful as a kitchen assistant, you should exercise exceptional time management and ensure that all duties are completed in a timely manner. Ultimately, an outstanding Kitchen Assistant should be able to comply with all food and health and safety regulations.

The key responsibilities of a kitchen assistant include undertaking food preparation tasksas directed by the catering manager, preparing ingredients, cleaning vegetables, preparing simple dishes, observing correct cooking times and temperatures, using cooking equipment, utensils and machinery (e.g. saucepans, pans, chopping boards, meat slicers), cleaning cooking utensils, keeping work stations and surfaces clean and tidy and customer service.
Kitchen assistants are sometimes also responsible for restocking the store room and cold room in accordance with the chef’s instructions, for bringing ingredients into the kitchen and for ensuring food is packed and stored in accordance with all applicable food hygiene and safety regulations.
